Midnight Prayer

This winter, I made a wish,
Upon a star one night,
I made it to the brightest one,
The one that filled the sky with light.

I guess it really was not a wish,
It was more a pleading prayer.
For God to bring me a special love,
To a life that's been unfair.

You know that star wasn't a star at all,
But God's gentle, loving ear,
Listening to my special request,
While drying each and every tear.

God will leave some prayers unanswered,
While some he will grant true,
That star filled night he heard my words,
For he led me straight to you.
